The benefits of water are much larger than just “staying hydrated.” Water helps to improve your athletic performance, can reduce headaches, can prevent many health issues and can even help with weight loss.

As it is commonly known water is the best source of hydration. When your body is hydrated you function at a better speed and are able to give a better performance. Athletes tend to see the biggest difference between being hydrated and dehydrated. When an athlete is dehydrated they often have increased fatigue. This can also cause the workout to be harder mentally and less productive.

Drinking water can also have a big impact on reducing headaches. According to healthline.com headaches are one of the most common symptoms of dehydration. A person who suffers form daily headaches could just be dehydrated and drinking more water would play a larger role in fixing those.

Drinking larger amounts of water can be a healthy way to “cleanse” your body. Not having enough water could be the cause of unhealthy bowel movements or even kidney stones. Water intake can also play a big role in brain function and not having enough could cause your body to not work at its full potential.

Water plays a role on the speed of your metabolism so not drinking enough water could slow yours down and prevent weight loss. But if your body is hydrated the speed of your metabolism increases and that plays a big role in weight loss.

The average person should drink eight 8-oz glasses a day to be hydrated but everyone is different and some people might need more and other might not need that much.
